The research conducted by Lovro Ačkar as part of his graduation thesis under the mentorship of Associate Professor. Ph.D. Marta Čivljak, was published on July 3, 2023 in the scientific journal BMC Nursing (resonance factor: 3.189) with the co-authorship of associate professor Ph.D. Marta Čivljak and prof. Ph.D. Livia Puljak.

The paper “The knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of hospital nurses on smoking cessation interventions: a cross-sectional study” examines the frequency of smoking among nurses and their knowledge and attitudes about smoking cessation interventions. The data was collected through a cross-sectional survey using the survey method at KBC “Sisters of Mercy” in Zagreb on a convenient sample of 258 nurses, and data were collected on sociodemographics, the implementation of the 5 P intervention (ask, advise, assess, help, monitor) for smoking cessation during work, nurses’ attitudes and knowledge about smoking cessation interventions, and the smoking status of the nurses themselves.
