The  Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University,  Catholic University in Tbilisi, Georgia, together with the Nanovic Institute for European Studies of the University of Notre Dame, USA, hosted the international conference “Resilience and Recovery: Challenges for Universities ” on May 18 and 19, 2022. The conference was attended by members of the Partnership for Catholic Universities, rectors, vice-rectors and representatives of Catholic universities the Ukrainian Catholic University, the University of Notre Dame in the United States, the Croatian Catholic University in Zagreb, the Catholic University in Ružomberok, Slovakia and John Paul II University in Lublin, Poland. The opening of the conference was attended by the Apostolic Nuncio to Georgia, Msgr. Josè Bettencourt, Ambassadors of Hungary and Poland and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the education sector. The Croatian Catholic University was represented by prof. dr. sc. Željko Tanjić, rector, prof. dr. sc. Hrvoje Štefančić, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Associate Professor dr. sc. Jasna Ćurković Nimac.

Assoc. Prof. Jasna Ćurković Nimac, PhD., shared the experience and thoughts related to important topics of the Homeland War and post-war reconstruction in her lecture ” Forgiveness and reconciliation after the war in Croatia and collective trauma and transgenerational transfer of memory”. Rector Tanjić participated in the round table ” Postwar Recovery” with the presentation ” Political, social, and religious challenges in post-war Croatia “, while the Vice-Rector for International Relations  professor Hrvoje Štefančić, PhD., participated in the round table “Resilience, Recovery, and Solidarity “.

During the conference, Rector Tanjić and Rector Vardidze signed a cooperation agreement between the Croatian Catholic University and the Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani Catholic University, which enabled better cooperation in the field of teaching, research and teacher and student mobility.
